In the flood of world-wide publicity which has greeted the decision by Australia to BAN my “DANGEROUS SCIENCE” tour there have been some suggestions that I NEVER actually applied to go to Australia.
Considering that the decision to DENY me admission was reported in papers from Australia, China, Thailand, the United States, and Great Britain, I’m a little confused by such comments.
Surely they don’t intend to say Immigration Minister, Peter Dutton, was lying when he said my visa had been denied. Government officials always tell the truth, right?
Pro-Vaxxer “Conspiracy Theorists…“
But for those “conspiracy theorists” out there, let me quote from the Australian government’s official denial of my application to visit the country, sent to me by email on August 31, 2017.
“On 14 August 2017 the Department received information from Mr. Heckenlively stating that he intended to tour Australia in December 2017 to promote his views on anti-vaccination and promote his anti-vaccination books . . .
Open source information indicates that Mr. Heckenlively also plans to discuss during his tour of Australia how the pharmaceutical industry and government entities have made human lives more dangerous. He is also quoted as saying he regards himself as the “World’s Number One Anti-Vaxxer” . . .
Based on this information, I am satisfied that Mr. Heckenlively’s intentions to promote his views on anti-vaccination would or might be a risk to the good order of the Australian community . . .
Therefore, I am satisfied that there is a ground to cancel Mr. Heckenlively’s visa under section 116(1)(e)(i) – that his presence in Australia would or might be a risk to the health and good order of the Australian community.”
Can we at least all agree that I did apply for entry to the country and was denied?
What they forgot to note in their eight paragraph explanation for the revocation of my visa is that I have also called for a FIVE YEAR MORATORIUM ON CHILDHOOD VACCINES in the United States, and wanted to promote a similar campaign in Australia.
The link for my efforts to impose a FIVE YEAR MORATORIUM ON CHILDHOOD VACCINES in the United States can be found at:
Further on in the letter it noted that my visa was cancelled without notice under section 128 of the Migration Act, because in their words, “There is a risk that Mr. Heckenlively will travel to Australia if given notice of an intention to consider cancellation of his visa.”
And the letter also notes that “Mr. Heckenlively is subject to Public Interest Criteria 4013 which will prevent the grant of certain visa for three years from cancellation date.”
Just so you don’t think the government of Australia are a bunch of big meanies,
They did send an accompanying letter, just in case I thought they’d made a mistake.
In it they wrote, “You are invited to show why you think the ground for cancellation does not exist and/or to give reasons why your visa should not have been cancelled.”
In that spirit, I have written the following letter to Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull.
Dear Prime Minister Turnbull:
I know I should probably be sending this letter to Immigration Minister, Peter Dutton, but we both know that YOU are the person I’ve probably annoyed the most. After all, it’s your wife, Lucy who has all that stock in a pharmaceutical company. And as we say in America, happy wife, happy life. I know she is probably furious at me, but let’s simply talk man to man.
First, I was just joking when I suggested that those who support me in Australia should play a game of ding-dong doorbell ditch at your residence. It’s what we do in America when we want to show friendship and affection, but you may have different cultural sensibilities.
Second, I don’t know if you’re aware of this, but the documents which form the basis of my book, INOCULATED: How Science Lost its Soul in Autism, were provided to me by the office of U.S. Congressman, William Posey.
If you are unfamiliar with the United States Congress, let me give you the definition of it provided by Wikepedia.
The Congress meets in the Capitol in Washington, D.C. Both senators and representatives are chosen through direct election, though vacancies in the Senate may be filled by a gubernatorial appointment. Congress has 535 voting members: 435 Representatives and 100 Senators.
In other words, at least in America, Congress is a BIG DEAL.
You may have heard about Dr. William Thompson, whom we refer to as the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) whistleblower, who turned over thousands of documents to Congress alleging a cover-up of information showing a link between the MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine and autism, particularly in African-American males.
Now, if you are not familiar with the expression “cover-up,” let me again turn to Wikepedia to help you.
A cover-up is an attempt, whether successful or not, to conceal evidence of wrongdoing, error, incompetence or other embarrassing information. In a passive cover-up, information is simply not provided; in an active cover-up, deception is used.
The expression is usually applied to people in positions of authority who abuse power to avoid or silence criticism or to deflect guilt of wrongdoing. Perpetrators of a cover-up (initiators or their allies) may be responsible for a misdeed, a breach of trust or duty, or a crime.
Dr. William Thompson knew he had been part of a BIG COVER-UP, and wrote about it in a document I cover in pages 103 to 106 of my book, INOCULATED: How Science Lost its Soul in Autism.
Here’s some of what Thompson wrote in a document, entitled “Events Surrounding the De Stefano et al (2004) MMR Autism Study” which he prepared for Congressman Posey on September 9, 2014.
This is from the “Conclusions” section.
I believe we intentionally withheld controversial findings from the final draft of the De Stefano et al (2004) Pediatrics paper. We failed to follow the final approved study protocol and we ran detailed in depth RACE analyses from October 2001 through August 2002 attempting to understand why we were finding large affects for blacks . . .
In addition to significant effects for black males, we also found significant effects for “isolated autism cases” and for the threshold of 24 months of age. If we had reported the 24 month effects, our justification for ignoring the 36 month significant effects would not have been supported.
Unfortunately, Wikepedia will not help us with the definition of “isolated autism cases” because that term was simply made up by the CDC. It simply translates as any “normally developing child.”
So Prime Minister, if you have any young black males in your country, or any normally developing children, they are in danger from the MMR vaccine. Furthermore, my legal training has convinced me that when somebody lies about one thing, there are probably a lot more lies you haven’t yet uncovered.
Many of us in the anti-vaxx community suspect that any vaccine for a child carries significant risks, which is why in the United States I have called for a FIVE YEAR MORATORIUM ON CHILDHOOD VACCINES in order to more deeply study this issue.

If our CDC had not blatantly covered up these MMR findings for fifteen years, and if Dr. Thompson had been called to testify in front of Congress in the nearly three years since he made his allegations, perhaps the members of my community would feel differently about these issues.
Remove the ban on my travel to Australia and I’ll save you a seat in the front row, mate.
All the best, Kent Heckenlively, JD
P.S. – I have told my wife that if I am killed in an unexplained “boomerang accident” that suspicion should fall on the government of Australia.
